Are we Afraid to accept the Reality

I was in Israel when the terrorist attacks on Mumbai happened. I was dumb struck when I learnt that a bunch of them rushed into our land through sea and sieged two of the finest hotels in India and a Jewish Center. What later followed is a hostage crisis which lasted for 72 hrs, first commando rescue operation in independent India and a great feast for Media.

When it is all over, the bitterness of reality started to show up. Is India in a position to fend these sort of outrage? Is India prepared ??. After thinking about this for for quite a while - the answer i got is not at all. (Please let me know if you think otherwise). Millions of forwards flooded the internet about the terrorist acts and heroism of our people. Status popped up on almost all kinds of messangers about the incident.

After the incident mumbai is listed on the top 10 dreaded places on earth for tourists. Israel being first on the list. I had a chance to stay in Israel for 3 months and the internal security there is wonderful. Infact I felt it is much safer there than in our cities. Israel is surrounded by 7 hostile nations. Still they are keeping them at bay and leading a peacful and prosperous life.

Whats with the internal security in India? Who cares as long as the politicians keep their votebanks safe. Who want if some 10 people die in a bomb explosion by an islamic terrorist. What difference does 10 make to 1billion people. Even after continous attacks by the terrorists, why the prime minister repeats the same speech in his address to the nation ? Probably he is asking for more. Unless we show the world of terrorism that we are hard on it, it keeps coming to us and take thousands of innocent lives. Right from the start of Jihad by islamic groups in 792 AD , their main motto is to eliminate people who dont believe in allah. Should we let this continue until they eliminate us all.

India has the third largest standing army( after PRC and United States). We spend around $1.1 bn alone on buying russian weapons every year. But are our soldiers properly trained to handle the modern arsenal? Negative. How secure are our waters?. Is spending $2bn a year difficult for a country of 1billion on upgrading and training its security personnel. Why the govt is not using the high tech surveillance satellites to trace and track the terrorist outfits. All we need is a political will to do the things right.
